A Guide to Good Health

Tips For Taking Kratom For Pain Relief

Kratom is a natural plant substance that has been found to contain compounds that interact with opiate receptors. As such, it can provide pain relief, but in a more natural — and likely safer — way than prescription pain relievers. However, since kratom is usually sold as more of a supplement than a medicine, it's somewhat up to patients to figure out how to best use it. Here are some tips to guide you as you begin using kratom for pain relief.

Look for red vein kratom.

There are a few different strains of kratom. Although all will provide some degree of pain relief, red leaf kratom tends to be the best choice for this purpose. It's especially effective for alleviating muscle pain and any pain that is related to stress. It has a relaxing effect, rather than a stimulant effect, so it will help you relax and heal. If you can only find green or white vein kratom, those will work, but they tend to be more energizing than relaxing, so you may have to remind yourself not to over-do it and to let your body rest after taking them.

Start by taking 1 gram.

Kratom is often sold in capsules. Most capsules contain 1 gram of kratom powder. To start, take just one capsule, and see how you feel after a half hour. The kratom should have fully kicked in by this point. If you don't get enough pain relief, keep taking 1 additional gram at a time until you find the right dose. Most people do not need more than 4 or 5 grams for pain relief, and many people — especially those on the smaller side — are fine with just 1 or 2 grams. If you take more than needed, you may start to experience some nausea and dizziness, so be careful with your dose.

Drink lots of water.

Kratom tends to be dehydrating in a manner similar to caffeine. Your body can't heal well or regulate its pain as well if you are dehydrated. So, for the most effective kratom experience, you need to make sure you're sipping water before and after you take the plant medicine. Staying hydrated also helps prevent the nausea some people experience when taking kratom.

Kratom can be a great choice for natural pain relief, but it is a powerful plant and needs to be treated as such. To learn more about kratom, contact a local supplier.
